SunOne Brazil was established in 2009 to develop projects eligible for “reduced emissions from deforestation and forest degradation” (or REDD) carbon offsets. Approximately 25% of global emissions come from deforestation, and Brazil’s share of the Amazon basin constitutes about a third of the world’s tropical rainforests.
